We are very proud to announce that we have recently named as a winner of the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Award at it’s top GOLD level. This is one of the longest running green tourism awards in the UK and this is the first year we have entered for an award so we are very excited!.
The Assessors comments included ‘ The site has several mature trees and shrubby areas but the most important habitat is the Tay estuary where thousands of birds feed at low tide. The burn that flows alongside the site has Kingfishers. I noted no less than 28 species of birds during my visit including : Grey Heron, Cormorant, Shelduck, Mallard, Eider, Sandwich Tern, Black-headed Gull, Oystercatcher, Bar-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Redshank, Wood Pigeon, Swallow and House Martin. There are some excellent screening hedges of Privet, Leylandii and an amazing Russian Vine alongwith a few mature Buddleias. An excellent burn runs along two sides of the site with well-vegetated banks. The coastal verge and the sides of the burn have very good areas of wild grassland.’
Due to the amount of gardens and shrubby areas plus pots and planters that we have also been awarded ‘Honey Bee Friendly Park’ status.
Thank you to all of our owners who do their bit with making their pitches look so lovely with pots and planters. This award is a testament to all our hard work!
